Sio-2 PF Red Earthenware

Traditional red earthenware clay body. It is a high quality and polyvalent clay, very popular for its fineness and excellent plasticity. Its coefficients of thermal expansion are ideal for standard pottery glazes, in both single and twice firing processes. Incredible results in reducing atmosphere can be obtained (metallic reflection technique). Available in extruded body (moist form), being suitable for wheel-throwing, shaping and modeling. Firing range: Cone 06-04 (1855º-1971ºF); Water content: 22%; Plasticity (IP Atterberg): 17; Carbonate content (CaCO3): 10%; Drying shrinkage: 5.5%; Firing shrinkage at Cone 06: 0.6%; Porosity (water absorption) at Cone 06: 13.5%; Dry bending strength: 6.6 N/mm2; Fired bending strength at Cone 06: 27.9 N/mm2; Thermal coefficient (a25-500ºC): 77.7x10-7ºC-1.
