Manetti Brown Shellac in flakes Gum

Manetti Brown Shellac Flakes are used to insulate porous surfaces before applying the mordant and to subtly polish and protect the finished gold leaf. Soak the shellac flakes in a solution of at least 95% ethanol. After 24 hours, the shellac will have been completely absorbed. Filter the mixture to remove any deposits and impurities that may have formed. The resulting shellac and alcohol solution can be stored for several months if kept in a carefully closed container.
