The artist's book is an object of exploration and research by the artist, a work that speaks for itself. It differs from the graphic diary in that, as well as incorporating drawings, paintings, photographs or other forms of expression, it presupposes the construction of the book itself as an artistic object. It also differs from bookbinding in that its purpose is not the construction of the book or notebook.
So we can safely say that the artist's book is in itself a work of art.
The aim of this training is to construct a paper support which, through cutting and folding, can form the basis of a work. Expressive exploration is free and up to each individual, and no prior knowledge of artistic techniques is required.
This workshop is suitable for anyone who is curious about this artistic medium, regardless of their age or level of technical knowledge. The main thing is to be in a good mood, to want to take part and to be open to the experience!
What we're going to do
- Understand the concept of an artist's book. The case of Frida Kahlo and her artist books as objects of artistic expression.
- Make a leaflet using paper cutting and folding techniques.
- Work on artistic expression with materials such as acrylic paints, Posca pens and techniques such as dripping, ation painting, the exploration of the accidental and the unforeseen, through guided exercises aimed at the search for personal expression.
- Explore chromatic scales of contrasting or harmonious colors. Using black and white as the fundamental colors of plastic language.
- Promote discovery and develop imagination and creativity.
